The rain did not deter our group one bit! This morning, the Anchor Church had food ready for us to pass out; so we were able to meet people’s physical needs as well as their spiritual needs! The Lord put several people on my heart. We started out on Green Street. We met a family who was strong in their faith and we were able to encourage and pray for them. Then, we headed over to see Gerlisa and her baby Zayden. We enjoyed our visit with her and I made arrangements to babysit; how fun is that going to be! We knocked on two other doors, but nobody answered.
We drove around trying to find someone to bless. A vacant building caught our attention. It looked like the perfect location for a homeless person to rest their head. We investigated a little bit, but didn’t see anyone. We moved forward and noticed a male and female walking down the street with a plate of food in their hands. It appeared they were leaving from the Salvation Army. We were able to give them a ride and left them an abundance of food.
When we stepped inside their home, a small hand grabbed mine from behind the door. I peered to the other side and noticed an elderly female sitting there. She loudly stated she loved church, then pulled my ear to her mouth and whispered how nasty all the other people that lived there were to her. She explained they stole her medication and ate all the food. I contacted DHS the next morning so they would follow up with her. I was also able to pray with this precious soul before the others kicked me out of the residence.
From there, we went to a home where we noticed a young lady sitting on the porch. The entire family welcomed us; we prayed and gave them a bracelet. As the young lady was reading the scriptures, everyone gathered around. They all claimed to know the Lord and agreed to share the Good News with someone else! What a fulfilling day!
