Neil and I went to a rodeo in Savannah, TN this weekend. Oh how I love being around horses as it reminds me of how one day heaven will open and Jesus will be riding on a white horse!
During the intermission, I looked down at my feet and they were dusty…the Lord brought to my remembrance Matthew 10:14 about shaking the dust off the feet of the disciples. What a great reminder that sometimes we need to plant our feet and stand firm where we are…yet other times God will give us the freedom to move on…and that we are only responsible for our obedience to Him and not the results of our obedience.
Also, as I was intently looking at my feet, I was reminded about how similar my toes are to my biological father’s toes. I recalled how my daddy used this as a way to convince me as a young child that I wasn’t adopted. That because of the similarities in our feet, I belonged to him! What another fun way to illustrate that we are made in our Heavenly Father’s image and those that place their trust in Christ, are adopted into God’s family…and because we belong to Him, we should walk in His ways and be imitators of Him!
