Chasing Rabbits?

Oh what fun today was!  My reviveTUPELO team consisted of Lela, Steven, and his son.  The Lord showed me a bunny rabbit as we prayed and asked for the Holy Spirit’s direction.  Lela felt led to go to Fair Park; they were hosting a Recovery Awareness event.  She suggested we might see a child with a bunny on their shirt.  Both of these suggestions brought me joy!

The first person I came into contact with was someone I had gotten sober with 13 years ago.  She explained she had 7 years of recovery and has been telling herself she would quit tomorrow for 6 years.  We celebrated her 60 days of sobriety and prayed for her continued success.

The next person I ran into was an individual who financially supports me.  Lela and I were able to pray and encourage him.  As we went through the Scripture with him, the Lord gently reminded him that he was loved because of who God is and not because of works.

As my team changed our focus and began asking people if they had a rabbit tattoo; I was able to pray for another sister in Christ who I knew through Celebrate Recovery.  My heart over flowed as she told me she was going to be sharing her testimony at a women’s conference next weekend.  It was my reminder that we overcome by the words of our testimony and that iron sharpens iron!

We were about to head towards the car when the event was over and we noticed Lela’s husband (who was on another team) sitting on a bench speaking with a gentleman.  We listened to his story of running from place to place and not having any direction; to intentionally praying a prayer of salvation! I love it how we as His children realize that God is all we need when God is all we’ve got!

During this same time frame I played on the marry-go-round with Steven’s son.  It didn’t take long for me to get really dizzy.  It was a neat demonstration of insanity.  Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results; or going in circles and getting nowhere.

As I returned to my seat on the ground, another person from the other team walked up and said she had run into Josh.  I was on a team with Josh last year.  Josh ended up being my team’s assignment that day.  It was beautiful because his story was similar to the one we just heard and we have learned that Josh has finally stopped running from the Lord and into His arms!

As I sit here writing this, the Lord revealed to me that when we look to things in this world to fill that God-shaped hole, we are only chasing rabbits and we end up very dizzy.  However, when we are intentional, seek His face, and surround ourselves with like minded people, then we can become all He created us to be and we can begin fulfilling His purpose for our lives!  img_1606

After Steven and his son returned home, they found this rabbit!  How fun is God?  What I take with me from today is Matthew 18:3 “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”

I am a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! I am humbled that He calls me His own! I am learning to walk more boldly and confidently in who He has created me to be. My prayer is others will come to know Jesus as their Savior, identify with who they are in Him so they too can walk out the calling He’s places on their lives!
