I am a crossing guard at one of the elementary schools here in Tupelo. There is not a lot to keep me occupied at my post, so I have challenged myself with trying to be a blessing to all the cars that drive by me by at least waving and/or smiling at them. While doing this the other morning, my heart was saddened because some of the drivers were distracted by something else, some refused to look in my direction, and others were blinded by the morning sun.
The Lord used this as a reminder to me that I too could fall victim of this very thing. I could be distracted and not see a blessing that He’s put right in front of me…I could just be stubborn and selfish to look for them…or even worse, I could be so blinded by the sun (or my sin) that I miss out entirely on what He has planned for me. I don’t know about you, but my prayer is I become intentional about seeing His works around me and I don’t miss any of the blessings He has for me because of being self absorbed or entangled by sin.
