Our team was given a map with two churches in Amory which is about a 30 minute drive from Tupelo. We were only allotted 2 hours, so we decided to begin heading in that direction to see what the Lord had in store for us.
We stopped in Nettleton at a business and our leader prayed for a gentlemen getting into his car. He was a believer and was so encouraged by what we were doing, that he tried to give us money to support our efforts.
We noticed a police car had just pulled into a parking lot and we were going to ask directions, but felt led to pray with him instead. He happened to be the chief and he was encouraged by us praying for him, for his officers, and for his community.
We continued driving and noticed a fruit stand on the side of the road. Our leader reminded us that we should be about their business before we were about our Father’s business. Our team members bought a pumpkin and some apples. We ate the forbidden fruit as we discussed God’s grace and forgiveness with the owner.
That afternoon I couldn’t get the song “Set A Fire” out of my mind. So, my team ended up going to Fire Station #2. We had an opportunity to pray with several firemen and they asked if they could have a Bible for each man on their crew. We were short, but promised to return and bring the remaining Bibles later in the week. We felt it was the Lord leaving the door open for us to come back and touch base with other firemen.
